Abstract
- This exploratory case study investigated the performance in peer review of six selected Chinese English as a foreign language students and determined the key factors affecting their performance. Five out of the six students focused on language instead of content and organization during the evaluation of peers’ texts across tasks. These students also decided to use peer feedback selectively in the revision. The students’ beliefs in good English expository writing greatly influenced their performance in the peer review. The findings suggest that the students’ writing beliefs enable them to exercise agency in interacting in this activity. Pedagogical implications are also discussed.
